I look up towards the moon, I gaze at the stars

with the wonder of a child I wonder where you are.

with nervous hands, it’s not hard to miss

opportunities scarce, glances at happenstance

I look up to the sky, I exhale cold breaths

in deep blue winter, my words rest less.

With the knowledge of your indifference,

my heart, unrequited, encased in my chest,

feels phantom fingers in your absence.
